Giving Review

In the book of James in the Bible we read that ‘every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights’ (James 1:17). This verse reminds us that everything we have is from God, and therefore we are inspired to use it for God. In a time of financial pressure this verse is a huge encouragement. We don’t need to fear because God is in control!

This Sunday at our Monthly Joint Sunday Gathering (6 March) we will all have an opportunity to review our giving. After the service there will be a team of people who can help you set-up, increase or decrease your giving; and help with any questions you may have.

We have also launched a new page on our website that lists all the ways you can set-up or review your giving. On the website menu click ‘Get Involved’ and scroll down to ‘Donate’. On this page you will also find a link to download our new Giving Review Booklet.

Prayer Room Update

Resources Update: From Monday 28th March the Prayer Room at Riverside House will have some new resources to help us pray. There will be a focus on Praying for our Muslim friends and Neighbours throughout Ramadan. There will also be resources to help us pray for the persecuted Church.

Online Bookings Update: Due to the fact that the Prayer Room is small and to respect others; we will be keeping the need to book 1 hour time slots via our website. However, we will continue to listen to your feedback and keep this under review.

We encourage you to pray for your Muslim friends and neighbours during Ramadan (2 April to 1 May). Either on your own or within your group, you may find the below resources helpful:

Online Bookings Update

From 27 March you will no longer need to book tickets online before attending our Sunday Gatherings in-person.

However, please know that due to the limited space at Riverside House we may need to reintroduce the need to book tickets online if we have issues with capacity.

Attending without children? If you attend our Sunday Gatherings at Riverside House without children, can we please ask that you attend the 11:30am service. This will give parents and guardians more opportunities to attend the 10am service when we provide children’s and youth provisions.

Worship Ministry Auditions

Are you interested in joining the Riverside Worship Ministry?

Our mission as a Worship Ministry Team is simply to help people meet Jesus each week;  enabling people to see a greater glimpse of who he is and all that he’s done and to be reminded once again of the sheer greatness of our awesome God. In Psalm 22 it says that God inhabits the praises of his people and we know that where God is, transformation takes place. As a Worship Ministry Team we live to see this transformation in our lives, in the lives of others, and in this city of Birmingham.

Musicians and vocalists meet on Wednesday evenings to rehearse and these are great times to connect, to build friendships and to have fun together. We also have larger team nights throughout the year where there is space to worship and have Ministry, but also training and to share our vision as we seek to bring our absolute best for the cause of his Kingdom.

For us, as a worship Ministry, team means family; a place to belong. And if you would like to be a part of this Ministry, either as a musician, vocalist on the visuals or PA team, then please do get in touch. We can’t wait to welcome you.

The Riverside Ministry Team are holding auditions on Wednesday 30th March and Wednesday 27th April. If you are interested please email benp@riverside-church.org.uk for further information.

Update: Word of Hands

Over the past 13 years Riverside have worked closely with Word of Hands to provide church services in British Sign Language (BSL) for people in our deaf community. Before lockdown these services were held at Riverside House and at our Bournville site.

Jay Thomas-Morton, the pastor of Word of Hands, would like everyone to know that he has made the difficult decision to step down from his role. When lockdown came many things changed, but it was not that in itself that caused his decision. You can click here to watch a full video from Jay or click the button below. At  this time Jay would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for all your support, prayer and encouragement.

The Word of Hands Team have agreed to bring to a close the online and in-person BSL services and instead focus on community. They don’t know what that will build into but we all take comfort in the fact that God knows.

At this time we stand with Jay in thanking God for all that he and the Word of Hands Team have achieved over the past few years. So much influence, learning and so many lives have been touched within Birmingham and beyond in places like Manchester, Turkey, Romania and Bolivia. Beyond meeting together for fellowship and worship each Sunday there have been so many blessing such as drama groups, parties, weddings, over 10 baptisms, regular home groups, Women of Wings work .. so many things.

Please do join us in praying for all those involved as we see this new vison flourish and develop.

Welcome Jackie & Mark

When the year began, as a church we felt like we are in a place where God is doing something new, and with that many things where changing including new staff members and how we do things.

As we are still in the transformation process of God doing something new, we would like to formally welcome Jackie Nichol who has joined us in the last month as our House Manager. She hit the ground running with sorting out alarms and several building repairs and she will continue to make sure Riverside House is a safe and a healthy place. We would also like to formally welcome Mark Isgrove who joined us this week as our new Events Manager. He is already active this Sunday at Tally Ho to make sure our Sundays go smoothly. Both Jackie and Mark will be working as part of the Operations Team. We are excited to see how God is putting everything together and transforming us as a church and bringing on about a new thing. Do feel free to chat with them and welcome them when you see them around.
