Kid's Church: Christmas Update

Hello parents and carers.

We hope you and your families are well.  Just a few things to share with you…

 #1 | Generations Christingle Service
11 December | 10am and 4pm

Whichever service you come to, here are some ways your children can be involved:

– We invite all children and young people to come along on the day dressed as a nativity character (angel, shepherd, Mary, Joseph, animal, star watcher) so they can join in with the story.

– Having a speaking part (no lines need to be learned) or a non-speaking part at the 10am service.

– Learning the actions for the first verse of Silent Night. Here’s a helpful video we’ve made so you can practice at home.

– Helping with giving out and making Christingles at either service.

– Don’t forget to invite your friends along too!

Please let Sarah Thomson know if your children and/or young people can help with any of the above: saraht@riverside-church.org.uk

 #2 | Kids Weekend Away 2023!
11-12 March 2023
Places are still available for children in years 3 – 6 to join us for two days and a night of fun and outdoor activities at the Pioneer Centre in Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire (with transport from Riverside House). To book; click here

#3 | Sunday Kids Groups Update
For the Spring term, we’ll be going back to running our Sunday Kids Groups as we did before the pandemic, without using pre-prepared teaching videos. We’ll try this and see how it goes so please do chat with Sarah Thomson if you have any concerns or feedback about this or about the groups generally.  Also, we would love to run another group on Sundays but are currently limited by the number of volunteers so do get in touch if you’d like to help – there are lots of ways you can get involved.

HOPE OF THE WORLD - NEW SINGLE BY BEN PEARSON

Hope of the World is the brand new single from our worship leader, Ben Pearson & Riverside Music. It encapsulates the heart of the Christmas message – that God comes and meets us where we are, in the very weakness and frailty of our humanity. An inspiring and uplighting Christmas ballad, it reminds the listener that we are not alone in the chaos; “He’s God with Us, Emmanuel.” Available on Spotify & Apple Music. Forge Midlands: Starts 13 Jan 2023

WHAT IS FORGE?

“Helping mobilise and equip the people of God to participate in the mission of God”.

Forge cultivates missional community by identifying, developing, and training missional leaders, teams and practitioners. Forge trains ordinary people to become missional and thrive in whatever context to which one is called. This may be in pioneering new things, church planting, working in and through an already existing church, or serving in a local community, professional or relational network. The cost of Forge is £495 for the year. This includes all costs of the training, coaching, and resources that participants will be given.

HOW IS THE COURSE DELIVERED?
Through a 10-12 month programme involving missional training, practice-led coaching, personal development, the forming of a supportive learning community, and networking events. Forge is operating in missional centres across England and Wales to help birth and nurture the missional church, using zoom workshops.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
The next cohort starts Friday 13 January 2023. For more information and to sign-up
