Ask Me Anything (AMA) with Ado Muronzi

At our recent Joint Gathering we introduced Ado Muronzi, who has been recruited as our new Operations Director. Further to this, we invite you to an ‘Ask Me Anything’ (AMA) session with Ado via Zoom on Tuesday 1 February (7.30pm to 8.30pm). It will be a great opportunity for him to share more about himself and what he is looking forward to in his new role. It will also be an ideal opportunity for you to ask him any questions you may have. It will be very informal so grab a drink and enjoy a great time of fellowship together. At this time, please do continue to pray for Ado as he settles into his new role. We look forward to all that God has planned for him.

Please do sign-up via our website and we will then send you the Zoom Login details.

WE RECOMMEND: CITY WIDE PRAYER EVENT

On Thursday 20 January Birmingham City Church (65 Parade, Birmingham, B1 3QQ) are hosting a city wide prayer event from from 8pm until 9.30pm.

We encourage you to attend. What an important time to pray together across the city. 2022 is a vital year for Birmingham. The eyes of the nation will be on us as we host the Commonwealth Games. It is still Time4Change and at this prayer time we want to address some key issues. We want to start the year united in prayer, one church, one people, expecting God’s to move.

‘Our eyes look to the Lord our God’ (Psalm 123:2).

Please arrive well before 8pm to go through Covid-19 arrangements and say hello to others. Alternatively, you can join us via BCC’s YouTube channel (access via the www.bcc.life connect with us page)

The prayer meeting will focus on three key areas:

  • To turn away from our division as church. This builds on the prayer gathering held at St Andrew’s Football Stadium in October 2021, where we repented of our racial divisions. Now we bring our divisions as churches before God, our independence, the hurts and pain – and commit to a new unity
  • Being ready to serve – praying for Birmingham
  • Standing As one – praying for the Great Commission – good news across Birmingham, for the Great Commandment – moving to deeper level of love for one another, and the Great Collaboration – united to bless.

These are key steps in our journey to end racial division and see God’s kingdom come. We are building a new unity and the prayer will be led by leaders standing together and ready to serve. This links with the wider prayer week for Christian Unity in Birmingham. It’s Time4Change.’

We Recommend: Retreat for healthcare workers

Timeout with God – Finding authentic hope in troubled times

Summary: A free online guided morning retreat being held by the Christian Medical Fellowship in the West Midlands (via Zoom) on Saturday 22 January.

Read More:

“My endurance has perished; so has my hope… My soul… is bowed down within me, yet this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope” (Lamentations 3:18-21)

Many of us find it difficult in our hectic lives to set aside time to be alone with God. With so many pressures on us, it might seem particularly selfish when life is frenetic, but Jesus knew the importance of taking time to withdraw to be alone with his Father. In drawing breath and being refreshed, we allow ourselves to be filled and resourced to give out in our day-to-day work during these challenging times.

The Bible (as in Jeremiah’s outburst in Lamentations 3) can be ruthlessly honest about life’s difficulties, but curiously, it still offers a ‘hope that does not disappoint us’ (Romans 5:5). What is this hope? How does it correlate with healthcare affected by a global pandemic? What steals our personal sense of hope and how can we nurture hope?

Organised by the Christian Medical Fellowship in the West Midlands, ‘Time out with God’, is a free guided online morning retreat being held via Zoom on Saturday 22 January. It is an opportunity to spend time with God, listening to and communicating with Him and is intended to be a time of personal communion between you and God rather than an interactive session between participants.

LET'S GET A BETTER 'OUTLOOK'

For a long time at Riverside we have sent out a church bulletin once a week called ‘Outlook’, either as a printed booklet each Sunday or more recently, via an online publication each Friday. Starting this week, we are trying something new and will be moving ‘Outlook’ to this monthly blog post called ‘Riverside News’.

The main advantage of using our blog is that all news and updates will be made available to everyone in ‘real-time’ meaning we can all stay up-to-date with the latest information at any time during the week; simply by visiting our church blog. However, church members can still subscribe via ‘My ChurchSuite‘ to receive a news update (that will link to the blog) each week via e-mail and/or text.

If there is ever anything that needs to be shared to only church members, a link in the public blog will take people to a PDF document called ‘Members News’. This will only be accessible to church members, as the link will direct people to login to their ‘My ChurchSuite’ account.

A video tutorial of these changes will soon be sent to you, but if you have any questions or concerns please e-mail: communications@riverside-church.org.uk

How to:
To subscribe or un-subscribe from Riversdie News updates visit your ‘My ChurchSuite‘ account and click on ‘My Details’ on the left hand menu. At the bottom of this page you have the option to tick if you would like to receive Riverside News blog updates each week via e-mail and/or txt. Note: Anyone who subscribes to receive general communications from Riverside will automatically be subscribed to receive Riverside News updates.

Wednesday Prayer Spaces

In light of the uncertainty around the new covid-19 variant, at a time that is still so complex and challenging, we want to stay persistent in prayer. So we are once again encouraging everyone across Riverside to put aside some time at 8pm each Wednesday to pray.

Therefore, we will soon send the Prayer and Pastoral updates to the whole church via txt and e-mail once again each Wednesday. You can also access the prayer update at any time via your ‘My ChurchSuite‘ account. We encourage you to use these updates to guide your prayer with your Life Group, Community Group or other group setting.
