Daniel | Chapter 1 | Verses 1-8
Scams are never pleasant experiences, but sometimes they come with unexpected theological depth! In this talk, Damilola leads us to consider what the experience of Daniel and his friends in Babylon speaks to us as Christians in the west today. We are encouraged to hold fast to our treasure in Jesus – not just for our sakes but for the sake of the world.
No youth content this week. However, please know that on Sunday 5 February the youth (Roc Solid) with be joining with everyone else during the service and will then go out into a desinated area to discuss the talk together. Venue Reminder: On Sunday 5 February we will be at Tally Ho. Click here for more information.
Bible Study Questions
Each week there are TWO different sets of questions for you to use, whether you are exploring the Bible within your Life Group, in other group settings, or simply using them on your own.
A | DISCUSSION STARTERS
These are simple questions to provoke discussion together out of the talk (ideal if you are watching our Sunday Service online with others in your group):
1 | Was there anything that particularly helped you during the talk?
2 | Was there anything that you didn’t necessarily agree with, or found difficult to understand in the talk?
3 | As a result of the talk, what:
a. Changes do you want to see?
b. Truths do you need to remember?
c. Actions do you need to take?
B | QUESTIONS TO EXPLORE
These are questions that are based on the talk and the surrounding themes:
1 | Have you ever fallen prey to a scam? How did this make you feel?
2 | Do you believe ‘exile’ is a fair description of what it is to be a Christian in Birmingham today?
3 | Do you agree it is possible to have ‘faithful compromise’?
4 | What does consecration look like for you each day?
5 | How have you stepped out in courage because of your faith in Jesus recently?
6 | What changes do you believe the Lord is inviting you to make to your life through this talk?
As you work thorugh these questions pray for one another to deepen and develop your relationship with Jesus in this year ahead.
