Hello, my name is Tju Tju Symonds. I was born in Indonesia and I stayed in Singapore for 20 years and I’ve been in this country over 30 years. I had always dreamed of furthering my studies overseas and God opened the way for me to come to England. But I came with £200 and one way ticket. I paid £200 deposit but this was not the full fees needed for my accountancy cost.
So I stepped on the plane and came to this country. The comfort that I have during those times is that God’s manna is only enough for the day. It was 1982, I knew that my £200 pound would last me for only two months.
I knew that at that time, with fear and trembling, every night I will pray, kneel down and pray to God and ask; how am I going to finance the whole thing? And then, especially on my passport, there was a stem. I cannot work without a work permit. I do not know how to apply for work permit. But I’m grateful to God that when I was still a child, even before I know how to get a job, the job knocked on my door.
So one day a grandmother told me that she was illiterate. So she asked me, do you want to give tuition to my grandson? Twice a week to provide you with a regular income? So God has been faithful. He knew my need and he provided there and then.
My God is so real. When I was alone in this country, sometimes I didn’t even know how to ask. But God provide me with more than I could have dreamt or imagined. So it became a passion of mine to share that the God I believe in is the true and living God. I just want everyone to know that the Jesus I know is real.
